First Solar Routing Optimization Utilizing Decision Science

Our client, a leading American solar technology company, needed help optimizing the production of their eco-efficient solar modules. As the only one of the world’s top ten largest solar companies not manufacturing products overseas, maximizing production was key to the company’s success.

AUTOINTEL SOLUTION

We replaced First Solar’s rules-based routing logic system that directed panels through various process stages with a decision science, algorithm-driven model. The new system optimized the decisions of which panels to send to which machines throughout the process.

A simulated model validated our new system which was able to produce an additional 10 solar modules every 13 minutes.
