A large home goods retailer was adding several automated distribution centers to the US market. Our client wanted to make sure that their design would meet the peak needs of the worst day, and to ensure they had the right number of AGVs to accommodate those needs.

We simulated the entire building from receiving to delivery including all manual and automated systems. This included a multilevel storage and retrieval system. Our data science team utilized information from the simulation to deliver insights for areas of concern, including:

• Improvements to the sequencing algorithms
• High-traffic areas for AGVs and improvements to routing logic
• Estimating manual picking requirements
• System capacity under specific inventory and order profiles
